Art is anything man made that is for decoration or show. Of course I am referring to good things like Terry Redlin paintings - not the abstract crap that people think is an expression of emotion or something. When everyone knows you can find the same stuff in any third grade art show.
I don’t think art would affect my business too much. It could really only affect my advertising. Art is very much a business itself, and I guess if I were to tailor my business into a high-end fitness center or have a yoga room, art may be a good way I could spend my company’s money. I think that investing in a Monet for a yoga room would be a good investment, and would help to make the overall environment feel more tranquil. Also, some strategically placed art pieces could improve the atmosphere of the main entrance area of my fitness center. Expensive looking, large paintings would not only serve to make these areas of my fitness center more appealing to customers, but they would also project an image of a high-class, trendy spa. These elements would be appealing to certain clientele, particularly women.
Art could also affect the way that I would protect my business if I had some expensive paintings or sculptures, I would want a more secure security system to guard my center. A lot of paintings become more sought after as time passes. The greatness of an individual artist may grow the longer he/she has completed their work and it is compared to what people have completed since. Hmmm… language, language and art…I’ll pass for now.
Art could change the way people look at my business. If I were to have some shitty little hole-in-the-wall for a fitness center, people would not want to come workout there. And when they did they may be thinking about the physical state of the center rather than their workouts. On the other hand, if I were to have a big, nice, luxurious fitness center, with art, people would look forward to their workouts and get more out of it.
Art influences medicine very importantly, because it can serve as a teaching tool for the patient. Art could help to make people understand medical problems, such as injuries, in a more simple way. A lot of medical terms and problems are very complex, so complex they have their own school for it, and a simple picture or drawing could help people understand and take care of problems better. I can use posters, pamphlets, and handouts in my fitness center with drawings describing certain injuries or conditions that the customer may be able to correct at the gym using specific equipment or exercises.
I’ll pass completely on the Language part – the only thing that I can think of is that art in itself is a language. It is the expression of a thought or emotion. Also, for those who may not speak the same language as my workers or me do, there are certain images that could be used instead of written or spoken words. .
